Use these interactive activities to encourage students to have fun on the Web while learning about addition and subtraction strategies. Students can try these activities on their own or in pairs.

Instructions for Use

Sum Sense allows students to arrange three or four digits to create an addition sentence. Once they have created an addition sentence, ask students to create a related subtraction sentence.

Click “Start”. You will be shown some numbers and will need to arrange the numbers to create an addition sentence. Click the “Next” button to get a new set of digits to arrange.

 

Flower Power allows students to solve related addition and subtraction sentences.

Students will be shown a fact family of doubles. Students will complete both the addition sentence and the subtraction sentence. If the student gets the correct answer, they will earn a petal on their flower.
