Lesson 11: Making Patterns with 3-D Objects and 2-D Shapes

Use these interactive activities to encourage students to have fun on the Web while learning about 3-D Objects and 2-D Shapes. Students can try these activities on their own or in pairs.

Use 3-D Objects and 2-D shapes to create a repeating pattern, and identify the pattern.
Describe a shape pattern using letters, colours, or actions.

Instructions for Use

Pattern Blocks allows students to use pattern blocks to make repeating patterns.

Click on "Making Patterns." Read the 4 ‘pattern challenges’ and then click “Pattern Blocks.” Use the arrow tool to place shapes on the interactive shape board to create a pattern. Use the broom tool to sweep the board clean and make another pattern.
