Instructions for Use Pattern Blocks challenges students to use pattern blocks to make a composite shapes of a hexagon. Click on "Building Shapes." Predict how many of each shape you will need to make a hexagon (the yellow pattern block shape). Then click “Pattern Blocks.” Use the arrow tool to place some hexagons on the interactive shape board. Then see how many of the other shapes you need to cover the hexagons. Note that you can use the ‘turn’ tool to turn shapes if that helps you cover the hexagon.
