Surf for More MathChapter 2: Number to 12Lesson 5: Comparing Quantities with 5 and 10Use this interactive activity to encourage students to have fun on the Web while learning about number to 12. Students can try this activity on their own or in pairs. Goal Compare sets that contain up to 12 elements, and use referents to solve problems. [C, PS, R, V] Instructions for Use More, Less, the Same allows students to compare quantities and build an understanding of the concepts of more, less, and the same. To start More, Less, the Same, click the "Start" button in the Practice box. Two sets of blocks appear on either side of the buttons indicating > More Than, < Less Than, or =The Same As. Click the appropriate button to make the statement correct. The activity will keep track of how many statements you complete correctly. Count and Order allows students to count and order numbers to 6. To start Count and Order, click on the “Count and Order” link in the list. There are two different counting games. Click “Play” to select the game you want. Match the numbers to the items shown. Click the “Check” button to check your work. There are two different ordering games. Click “Play” to select the game you want. Place the numbers in order. Click the “Check” button to check your work.
