Overview

About the Product

The Complete Laboratory Manual for Electricity, 3rd Edition is a valuable tool designed to fit into any basic electrical program that incorporates lab experience. This updated edition will enhance your lab practices and the understanding of electrical concepts. From basic electricity through AC theory, transformers, and motor controls, all aspects of a typical electrical curriculum are explored in a single volume. Each lab features an explanation of the circuit to be connected, with examples of the calculations necessary to complete the exercise and step-by-step procedures for conducting the experiment. Hands-on experiments that acquaint readers with the theory and application of electrical concepts offer valuable experience in constructing a multitude of circuits such as series, parallel, combination, RL series and parallel, RC series and parallel, and RLC series and parallel circuits.

Features

  • offers the ability to construct simple, relatively inexpensive labs

  • expanded information on single-pole, three-way, and four-way switch connections prepares readers for the basic types of switches that electricians must install in a residential, commercial, or industrial application

  • the hands-on methodology and “learn by doing” approach sufficiently primes readers for situations they are likely to encounter in the real world

  • a logical progression of topics makes this lab manual suitable for use as a stand-alone or as a supplement to any electrical theory book

  • designed for the laboratory that has access to 120 volts AC and 208 volts three phase

Instructor's Guide  (ISBN-10: 1428324313 | ISBN-13: 9781428324312)
Delmar's Standard Textbook of Electricity  (ISBN-10: 1418065803 | ISBN-13: 9781418065805)

Understanding the theory and application of electrical concepts is necessary for a successful career in the electrical field specifically in industrial maintenance and installation, and this newly revised, full color text delivers! Delmar's Standard Textbook of Electricity, Fourth Edition trains aspiring electricians by blending concepts relating to electrical theory with practical 'how to' information that prepares readers for situations commonly encountered on the job. This revision retains all the hallmarks of our market-leading prior editions, but displays enhancements such as more practical application problems. Topics span the major aspects of the electrical field including direct and alternating current circuits, basic theory, transformers, generators, and motors. This new edition has been organized so that all relevant information is located within a given chapter which allows for flexibility to access and cover topics in any order making this text an indispensable resource.

Electricity 1: Devices, Circuits & Materials  (ISBN-10: 1435400720 | ISBN-13: 9781435400726)

Designed to give readers the “building blocks” of electricity concepts, the sequence of topics and practical applications in this book will provide a solid foundation in electron theory and movement, direct-current series circuits, parallel circuits, series-parallel circuits, voltage line drops, rotating machinery fundamentals, and more! Electricity 1: Devices, Circuits and Materials, 9th Edition follows the same user-friendly approach that made previous editions so effective, while incorporating updates based on the 2008 National Electrical Code®. Featuring current industry terminology, photographs of commonly used electrical equipment, and sample problems with solutions, this is an ideal choice for a first course in basic electricity, house wiring, or commercial installations.

Electricity 2: Devices, Circuits and Materials  (ISBN-10: 1435400690 | ISBN-13: 9781435400696)

Electricity 2: Devices, Circuits and Materials, 9th Edition acquaints newcomers to the field with various types of alternating current circuits, while developing a solid understanding of the concepts of power, power factor, and power factor correction. This book, completely updated to the 2008 National Electrical Code®, explores alternating current principles and concepts of inductive reactance, capacitive reactance, and impedance. Sample problems and solutions at the end of each unit provide a direct route to understanding as readers apply key electrical principles in realistic troubleshooting situations

Electricity 3: Power Generation and Delivery  (ISBN-10: 1435400291 | ISBN-13: 9781435400290)

Designed for both novice and practicing electrical workers, Electricity 3: Power Generation and Delivery, 9th Edition, explores various types of generators and the delivery of single phase and three-phase power to the customer site. The ninth edition is updated to the 2008 National Electrical Code® and includes safety features from the power supply industry and current OSHA standards where applicable. This updated edition also features all-new coverage of generator maintenance and troubleshooting and expanded coverage of transfer switches, transformers, and connections. With a continued focus on the “hows” and “whys” of electrical system operation, readers will gain a solid understanding that goes beyond what to do in an electrical problem to why various electrical procedures are important.

Electricity 4: AC/DC Motors, Controls, and Maintenance  (ISBN-10: 1435400313 | ISBN-13: 9781435400313)

Obtain quick and easy access to information on DC and AC motors, various types of manual, magnetic, and electronic controls, and the installation and maintenance functions of each. Updated to the 2008 National Electrical Code® and featuring safety references to the most current OSHA Safe Work policies, Electricity 4: AC/DC Motors, Controls, and Maintenance, 9th Edition provides practical, hands-on information to get the electrical system operating as well as the theory of “why” the system works to aid in troubleshooting. The Ninth Edition features material on Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and newer controls for servo and small motors. Current practices and equipment have also been added to the Maintenance section to better enable readers to troubleshoot motors and control problems.
