About the Author

C. Donald Ahrens

Don Ahrens is Professor Emeritus at Modesto Junior College in Modesto, California. He has influenced countless professionals in the field of atmospheric science as well as hundreds of thousands of students who use his books to better understand weather and climate. In 2007, the National Weather Association awarded him a lifetime achievement award for these accomplishments. The bestselling author of two Cengage texts, Professor Ahrens received the Textbook and Academic Authors Association's McGuffey Longevity Award for the 9th Edition of his market-leading METEOROLOGY TODAY.

Peter L. Jackson

Peter L. Jackson is Professor of Atmospheric Science in the Environmental Science & Engineering Programs in the Natural Resources and Environmental Studies Institute at the University of Northern British Columbia. Professor Jackson is both an academic and a trained meteorologist whose research mostly concerns windflow in complex terrain (i.e. in mountains and along coastlines) and environmental applications.

Chris Jackson

Christine Jackson is a senior laboratory instructor in the Geography Program at the University of Northern British Columbia with degrees in Physical Geography and Education. She develops, coordinates and teaches experiential labs in courses on weather and climate, geomorphology, and soils. Prior to joining UNBC she taught climatology and geomorphology at the College of New Caledonia, preceded by several years working in museum education, science and technology community development, as an educator in the school system, and as a lab demonstrator and coordinator at the University of British Columbia. She is interested in improving understanding of the natural environment through applied learning and gives workshops to train educators to do this in the school system.
