Where do I find what career opportunities are available within Nelson?
All opportunities can be found onJob Opportunities.

How do I submit my resume?
Log intoJob Opportunities select the position you are interested in and you will then be prompted to set up a personal profile. This will only be required upon your first visit to the site – thereafter your email and password will enable access going forward.

How do I update my resume?
By using our online tool, your email and password logins enable you to update your resume as often as you wish and to update your profile as required.

How do I submit a general profile for future consideration if there is not a position for which I qualify?
Once you log into your profile, instead of selecting a particular vacancy, select the “General Application” which will allow you to submit your resume.

Will I be contacted for an interview or do I need to contact you?
Candidates selected for an interview will be contacted by Human Resources or directly by the Hiring Manager.

How long is my resume kept on file?
Your resume remains in our resume database allowing us the capability to search for candidates at any time. For this reason it is important that you maintain a current resume or remove your resume from the system if you are no longer available.

Does Nelson have a mentor program?
Nelson offers an onboarding mentor program for all new employees. This program provides each new employee with a dedicated resource “a Mentor” to support them in their new role.

How do I get into Publishing?
We hire many people who just have a real interest in our industry and we consider all levels of education and experience. But the best way to see if a career in publishing is for you is to enrol in one of these Publishing Programs:
Centennial College — Book & Magazine Publishing Certificate
Ryerson Polytechnic University — Publishing Certificate
Humber College — Creative Book Publishing Graduate Certificate
Simon Fraser University — Summer Publishing Workshops & Master Publishing Program

How many employees work at Nelson? Where are you located?
Nelson currently employs approximately 390 people. The majority of our staff are located at our corporate offices in Toronto, Ontario, Our Sales Representatives are based across Canada and work out of their home offices. We also have an office in Montreal, Groupe Modulo, where we employ 25 people.

What opportunities are available if I have recently graduated from College or University?
Positions are available within all Divisions of our organization particularly in Sales, Marketing, Editorial and Operations.

Do you hire summer students?
Yes, we hire summer students every summer in various roles. Most of the summer positions are based in the Toronto office and Distribution Centre. If you are interested in summer employment and are available between May and August, please submit your resume and availability tohuman.resources@nelson.com

If I apply online for a particular position and another one comes up that I am also interested in, should I send my resume and cover letter again?
Yes we advise that you apply to all positions you are interested in.

What are the chances of my application being considered when there isn't a specific posting?
We retain all resumes that are submitted. Should a current position not be available that would be a fit for your qualifications and experience, your resume will be kept on file and you will be considered when a search is conducted for a role to which you are suitable.
