Test of Early Language and Literacy (TELL)

The Test of Early Language and Literacy (TELL) is a Canadian Diagnostic assessment for children ages 3-8 that measures language and reading skills. This test provides Oral Language, Literacy and composite scores based on Canadian norms.

Biography of Authors:
Linda M. Phillips, PhD
Dr. Phillips is a Centennial Professor and Director of the Canadian Centre for Research on Literacy in the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta, Edmonton. A former teacher, school principal, district reading supervisor and director of several reading clinics, Dr. Phillips in a graduate of the University of Alberta and was an invited research scholar at the Centre for the Study of Reading at the University of Illinois and the London School of Economics and Political Science. She is currently appointed to the International Reading Association's Literacy research panel and has published extensively on her in work in reading. Dr. Phillips has an extensive background in diagnosis, prevention, remediation, intervention and teaching.

Denyse V. Hayward, PhD
Dr. Hayward is an assistant professor in the Department of Educational Psychology in the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta. She completed her doctoral studies in Rehabilitation Science and the University of Alberta and has worked for nearly two decades as a speech-language pathologist. Dr. Hayward has worked with Speech and Language Services Branch of Alberta Health Sciences where she developed a number of innovative phonological awareness, story writing and spelling programs. She has mentored front line clinicians and aides who provide services to children with language learning difficulties in addition to her own experiences working with children with multiple difficulties including cognitive delay, psychiatric disorders, behavior disorders, developmental delays, chromosomal abnormalities and multiple handicaps.
